June saw 24 walkers take on Wales highest peak to raise money to support children & young people during a parent’s cancer. Our Snowdon Sunrise Climb saw fundraisers from as a far as Birmingham take part to support the work that we do. Two of our walkers who took on the challenge are still going through treatment and for the first time on this kind of fundraiser we saw one of the young people we support take part. The weather wasn’t kind with strong winds and heavy rain, this didn’t deter these amazing walkers. A total of £6,209.10 was raised.
One of your fundraisers Lindsay explains why she chose to climb Snowdon through the night for us “Fundraising for the Trust was important to us because our 5-year-old has always been our priority throughout my incurable diagnosis. We have approached many charities in the 5 years, and I have not come across any like the Trust that support the children from diagnosis, through recurrence and to bereavement if needed. Other charities tend to offer a one-off service, or we didn’t fit their parameters. Emma understands that stage 4 means I will never be off treatment and things change constantly. More importantly the support on off to the the children of a parent with cancer is free thanks to the fundraising carried out by individuals like us and the charity.”
Emma Osborne Trust Founder “The number of walkers was amazing this year, the weather was not on their side, but there was never any doubt they wouldn’t get to the summit of Snowdon for the kids. It was so fantastic to see a young girl we have supported since she was 14 take part and want to do this for other children like her. We are so lucky to have such great supporters from all over the UK supporting us on your fundraising events, as we always say here at the Trust- We can’t do US without YOU.”
